A lame horse is lame because it is experiencing pain and there is something seriously wrong with some part of one of its legs or feet.
Imagine if you were slightly lame and had to carry 20% of your body weight. The decision is yours. Now imagine you are a slave and someone is forcing you to do this against your will.
Carrying extra weight would make the injury and the pain worse. If a horse cannot be cured of its lameness it should be retired from all work.
No vet would recommend riding any horse with even the slightest lameness. A good horse person puts the horse’s welfare first, not the money they can make for them, like Steve Weeks, the owner/operator of this concession.
